Spinfuse is the world's first free music sequencer, based on loops and single shot sounds for BlackBerry smartphones. Currently it does not support MIDI or any VSTi but in later versions of Spinfuse, when the processors of BlackBerries are above 1GHz we'll then be able to implement MIDI so you can create your own melodies directly on the phone and perhaps even a custom VSTi alike instrument support.
Spinfuse.com web portal will enable its users to exchange and download new sounds for use in their own Spinfuse projects, upload and download their own completed songs, loops, and ringtones made with Spinfuse and rate each other's work directly from within the Spinfuse application. The beta release of Spinfuse will not be utilizing the web portal's functionality yet, just the BlackBerry app itself.
Once Spinfuse is fully completed and out of beta along with its accompanying web portal we plan on making Spinfuse also available for Android, iPhone and Symbian platforms.
In order to be able to create music, your own loops, and ringtones you would need to download ready pre-made music loops and sounds into your Spinfuse library. Upon initial install the app comes with basic single shot sounds and some loops, and a demo project that shows use of loops and single shot sounds together. To see/hear the demo, start Spinfuse then press O and select Demo.sf, then press P or the space bar to render a playback. (note: the demo project will take some time to render as it uses both loops and single shot sounds).
Due to limited processor speed of BlackBerry, it takes bit longer to render a playback of single shot sounds or projects that contain loops and single shots together, however once a particular beat is created to your liking you can simply save it as loops and re-use them in your projects. In comparison, when using only loop sounds it renders/plays 85% quicker since the app does not need to render sounds and bar data individually to produce a beat you made.
Thank you for your interest and participation in beta release of Spinfuse. Please address all your questions and comments under the General Discussion theme.
